Supra Plus Open Ended Catheter 22Fr 42cm

Suprapublic catheters comprise a 2-lumen shaft with proximal drainage funnel, inflation valve and distal retaining ballon. Balloon fill-volume in millilitres and shaft size in French (FRA) are indicated on the funnel of each individual catheter and on the pouch label and outer carton label. Do not inflate more than fill volume indicates.

Indications

These catheters are indicated for drainage of the urinary bladder. The catheter is placed directly into the bladder through the abdomen.

Read all Instructions Carefully before use prior to use

• Inspect pouch seal to ensure that sterility is intact (sterility is guaranteed unless the unit packaging has been opened or damaged).
• Use ultrasound to ensure that the bladder is filled with 300ml – 500ml liquid.

Preparation for use

• Remove catheter from its sterile pouch using aseptic technique and visually inspect the catheter for any mechanical damage.
• Connect the catheter to a suitable urinary drainage system.
• If a trail inflation of the balloon is carried out, ensure that the balloon is empty prior to insertion.
• Sterile water or sterile water with glycerin 9:1 should be used to fill the balloon.

Potential Complications

• Urinary tract or kidney infections.
• Urine leakage around the catheter.
• Bladder irritations.
• Hematuria.

Caution

• For urological use only. This device is only suitable for use by a medical health professional trained in suprapubic catheter insertion or replacement.
• Always inflate the balloon with sterile water or sterile water with glycerin 9:1.
• Never clamp the catheter (a catheter plug or valve may be used if required).
• Never use a syringe to puncture the catheter shaft for urine sampling (this could cause needle-stick injury and/or the catheter may be compromised).
• This product is for single use only.

Storage

• The products should be stored in the original packaging at room temperature in a dry environment.
• Avoid direct sunlight and heat radiation.
