Baxter Glucose 5% IV 250ml.

Indications: Glucose (5%) Intravenous Infusions are mainly indicated:

• Whenever non-electrolyte fluid replacement is required.
• As a vehicle for drug delivery, provided that the added components are compatible with glucose.

Contraindications:

• The infusion of hypertonic glucose injections is contraindicated in patients having intracranial or intraspinal haemorrhage, in patients with delirium tremens who are severely dehydrated, in patients who are anuric, and in patients with diabetic coma.
• Also in patients, who are known to have an allergy reaction to corn or corn products, because cornstarch is used as raw material for glucose production. Avoid use after an ischaemic stroke episode as under this condition, the induced lactic acidosis aggravates the recovery of the brain damage tissue.
