Description
Composition:
Hydrogen Peroxide 3% (10 vol) and 6% (20 vol).
Actions:
Hydrogen Peroxide owes its action to its ready release of oxygen when
applied to tissues, but the effect only lasts as long as the oxygen is being
released and is of short duration. The antimicrobial effect is reduced in the
presence of organic matter
Indications:
Hydrogen Peroxide 3% and 6% solutions are used for cleansing and
debridement of wounds and ulcers.
Contraindications:
Hydrogen Peroxide is contraindicated in patients who have previously
shown hypersensitivity reactions to Hydrogen Peroxide.
Precautions:
Not to be taken. Not for injection.
Do not irrigate under pressure or into closed body cavities.
Do not mix with other chemicals. Do not return unused solution to the bottle.
Safety Directions:
Wear protective gloves when mixing or using.
Adverse Effects:
Adverse effects to 3% or 6% solutions of Hydrogen Peroxide are rare but if
irritation occurs, discontinue use
First Aid:
For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre (Phone Australia 13 11 26)
or a doctor.
If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting.
If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running
water. Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information
Centre, or doctor, or for at least 15 minutes.
If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin
and hair with running water.
Directions for Use:
Usage will be dictated by individual circumstances.
Storage:
Store below 25oC. Protect from light.
