You have been provided with this wash to thoroughly cleanse and disinfect your skin prior to your operation. If your specialist has recommended Chlorhexidine Pre-Op Wash, this will help reduce the micro-organisms which live on healthy skin. You should use a clean sponge or flannel to assist you in washing your WHOLE body thoroughly. Follow instructions set out below.

Chlorhexidine Pre-Op Wash Features:

• Contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4% in a foaming, alcoholic, emollient base.
• Chlorhexidine Pre-Op Wash is an antiseptic and disinfectant, which is effective against a wide range of vegetative Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is ineffective against acid-fast bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi and viruses. It is more effective against Gram-positive than Gram-negative bacteria, some species of Pseudomonas and Proteus being relatively less susceptible. Chlorhexidine is most active at a neutral or slightly alkaline pH and blood and other organic matter reduce its activity.
• Chlorhexidine Pre-Op Wash is used for cleansing and disinfection of the skin prior to surgery.
• Known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine.
• For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes or ears. Chlorhexidine Pre-Op Wash is incompatible with soaps and other anionic materials. Do not mix with other chemicals or detergents.
• Skin sensitivity to chlorhexidine has been reported.
• Not scheduled using the criteria in the Standard Uniform Schedule for Medicines and Poisons.
